Personalised STEM Tuition
Chemistry Tuition
National 5 • Higher • GCSE
Chemistry can feel overwhelming when individual topics are taught in isolation.
My approach focuses on helping learners see the connections between different parts of Chemistry and understand the ideas behind the questions rather than simply memorising answers.
Sessions can include:
• Chemical calculations
• Formulae and equations
• Acids and bases
• Atomic structure and bonding
• Organic Chemistry
• Rates of reaction
• Energy changes
• Problem solving
• Assignment/coursework support where appropriate
• Exam technique and revision
Physics Tuition
National 5 • Higher • GCSE
Physics combines scientific understanding with mathematical problem solving.
Sessions focus on developing both.
Learners are encouraged to understand what a question is actually asking before selecting equations or beginning calculations.
Support can include:
• Dynamics
• Forces
• Energy
• Electricity
• Waves
• Space
• Mathematical skills
• Problem solving
• Exam preparation
Maths Tuition
National 5 • Applications of Maths • GCSE
Difficulty with Maths can quickly affect a young person's confidence.
I use a scaffolded approach that identifies gaps in understanding, strengthens core skills and gradually increases the level of challenge.
Rather than rushing towards harder questions, we make sure the foundations are secure first.
Sessions can support:
• Numeracy
• Algebra
• Fractions and percentages
• Geometry
• Trigonometry
• Graphs
• Problem solving
• Exam technique
Exam Preparation
Exam preparation doesn't have to mean completing endless past papers.
Effective revision involves identifying where marks are being lost, strengthening understanding and developing a strategy for approaching different types of questions.
Exam-focused sessions can include:
• Past-paper practice
• Identifying common mistakes
• Command words
• Calculation strategies
• Time management
• Revision planning
• Building confidence approaching unfamiliar questions
Home Education
Daytime tuition is available for home-educated learners and young people who are currently outside mainstream education.
This can range from occasional subject support to regular structured learning.
Please visit the Home Education & Alternative Learning section for more information.
Online Tuition
Online tuition allows learners to access specialist support from home.
Sessions are interactive rather than simply watching a teacher talk through slides.
Digital whiteboards, worked examples, diagrams, questioning and shared resources can all be used to keep learners actively involved.
Online tuition is available throughout the UK.
Not Sure What Support You Need?
That's completely fine.
An initial conversation allows us to discuss the young person's current situation, what they're working towards and the areas where they need support.
From there, I can recommend an appropriate starting point.
